If you took an MBA or a personal or professional growth course, you know that goals need to be SMART – Specific, Measurable and Motivating, Attainable, Realistic and Time-bound and also not harmful to yourself or others.
Nowadays, in a world with extremely fast change and high complexity, a goal with these features does not last very long. in a world in which entire market scenarios and sectors change and evolve in a few years’, if not months’, time, being able to define accurately and measure, a goal is not very useful if then we cannot change direction fast, when needed. for this reason, goals need to be constructed so that they can easily reach an effective Plan B: ie they need to be resilient and flexible like a GPS that keeps the same destination, although it is able to quickly change route. Without this skill s GPS which is able to accurately define where we want to go is of no use if, then, cannot lead us there.
